Autumn is such an exciting time of year for children! From finding conkers to kicking up leaves, collecting acorns to jumping in puddles, blackberry picking to squirrel spotting; autumn is full of change, pattern, colour and ….learning opportunities!

In the Nursery, we have been reading Percy the Park Keeper’s autumn adventure, ‘After the Storm’. Perhaps if you are out and about on a welly walk of your own, you could challenge your children to find some of creatures, or nature, from that story?

Can they find a big oak tree of their own? Or perhaps search for a hollow tree? They may even find one that has been uprooted, just as in the story. Together, maybe you can find the tallest tree, just like the pine trees, and then some brambles or shrubbery? To complete the story, can they spot any acorns to plant in order to grow new oak trees, just like Percy? Whoever knows which woodland creatures could be scurrying around in the undergrowth as you search!!

Happy exploring!
