Early Years Celebrate Chinese New Year!
Back
This week, in the Early Years Department, the children have particularly enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. Across the department, the children have been discovering when and how this colourful and exciting celebration takes place.
In Reception, we have enjoyed reading the New Year story and finding out that this year is the Year of the Snake. We’ve had lots of fun taking part in activities linked to this special celebration, including making cards, creating bright red and gold lanterns, and designing unique lanterns using loose parts. One of the highlights was seeing the children proudly show off their creations to their friends and teachers!
We also learned about some of the traditions of Chinese New Year, such as families coming together to share special meals, giving red envelopes for good luck, and watching spectacular dragon and lion dances.
