It’s been fantastic to be back in the classroom with our Lady Barners this week. They swept in with smiling faces on Monday morning and got to work straight away. We kicked off the week in Year 2 with Creative Writing and with setting the scene for our story called ‘The Magic Lamp.’ Creeping into dusty attics and sifting through old memorabilia was the task. The children conjured some amazing images of teddies with one ear, rag dolls with ripped shoes, broken clocks and old leather suitcases. The cobwebs and musty smells added to their word paintings and made us all keen to read the rest of their stories when they come to writing them over the next few weeks. One child mentioned the pile of tinsel and Christmas decorations that were gathering dust and, as we leave the memories of a 2020 Christmas behind us, let’s look forward to the brightness that’s ahead.
