Year 5 have been working hard in English and have been inspired by the class reader ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell. We have created some fabulous instructional writing about raft building and making fire using a flint. We have used onomatopoeia to create work that explodes with the sounds of the Amazon rainforest, created sloth alliteration poems and written stories set in the jungle using our senses to describe the sights, sounds and smells. We have been really busy and the teachers are delighted by the enthusiasm the children are showing for writing in all different forms.
