On Saturday, Lady Barn gymnasts represented the North West region in the British Schools National Gymnastics Finals in Stoke. Having qualified in the regional competition in February, our boys, girls and mixed teams were now up against gymnasts from all over the country and we knew the competition would be tough.

Saahil, Joshua and Finlay competed in the morning and we were treated to superb performances on floor and vault. This was an outstanding achievement to compete at regional level from boys who only partake in gymnastics at Lady Barn.

Our Prep 5 girls, Priya, Danielle and Ellie, took to the floor and gave outstanding individual and group performances. A special mention goes to Danielle, who impressed the judge so much on vault that he gave her a special commendation.

Finally, our Prep 6 mixed team competed; Daniel, Beau, Parker and Rehani began on group floor and dazzled with intricate choreography, superior synchronisation and clean routines. We moved to vault and the competition was so close that the judges were marking to the nearest thousandth! We secured good vault scores and nervously waited for the medal ceremony.

It is with the utmost delight that I can report that Lady Barn were crowned National Champions. They are officially the best in the country at this level! Parker, Daniel, Beau and Rehani were delighted, as was I, to receive the title which we hold for the next year.
