Lady Barn House School Chinese New Year
BackHappy New Year – 新年快乐!
Friday 12 February marked the Lunar New Year, celebrated by many communities worldwide, and known in China as the Spring Festival. The exact date changes every year, and for most Chinese families is the most important festival on the calendar. According to Chinese tradition, the lunar year you are born in means that you belong to one of twelve animal signs, and your sign is said to determine your personality type.
The children in Years One, Two and Three had fun working out which animal year they were born in, and finding out what it says about them. They made these lovely posters depicting their animal sign’s lucky colours, numbers, its Chinese symbol and personality traits.
Year Three also made colourful Zodiac Wheels, showing lots of information about each animal, so that they can entertain their families and friends! Harry (3B) has made a fantastic Zodiac Wheel including the Chinese name for the twelve animal signs: 十二生肖.
Which animal sign does your birth date signify, and what does it say about you?
