Year 1s have started reading Katie in London in their English lessons and will continue exploring this book this half term. All the children are enjoying reading the story together as a class and look forward to finding out where the lion takes Katie and her brother Jack each week.  Last week, Year 1s had to pretend to be the queen (or king!) and invite Katie for afternoon tea at the palace by writing a letter to Katie.  They thought of some great adjectives to describe the food items that they would eat- delicious chocolate cake, warm sweet tea and crunchy cookies were all on the menu!  The children have also created fantastic fact books about some of the most popular London landmarks such as Trafalgar Square and St. Paul’s Cathedral.  The teachers all look forward to seeing how the children develop their knowledge and understanding of this topic over the rest of the term.
