🎉 Friends of Lady Barn Fundraising Committee – First Meeting of the Year! ☕
Our first FOLB Fundraising Committee meeting of the new year takes place on Wednesday 21 January at 4:15pm, and we’d love to welcome parents to join us.
This is a great opportunity to:
✨ Share ideas for fundraising events in the months ahead
🎄 Reflect on the success of our recent Christmas Fair
💬 Help shape how future fundraising can best support the school
The meeting will be relaxed and informal, a chance to exchange ideas, meet other parents, and enjoy a cup of tea. Every voice counts, and your ideas and enthusiasm really do make a difference.
📍 Location: 4F classroom just beside our Science Lab
⏰ Duration: Around 45 minutes (and if you need to leave earlier, that’s absolutely fine, we’ll be delighted to have you for whatever time you can spare!)
We hope to see you there 💙

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Dhiyan on his fantastic achievement of being selected for the Cheshire Youth Cricket Under 11 District Course 🏏👏
This is a wonderful accomplishment and a testament to Dhiyan’s talent, dedication, and hard work. Being chosen for the District programme places him among some of the most talented young cricketers across the county and offers an exciting opportunity to continue developing his skills.

We are delighted to share a lovely new initiative that has just launched in Prep 3 inspired by pupils Ayla and Idrees. The Book Club began as their idea and is now a weekly event with Ms Higson - with Darwin proudly joining in too. 🐶
The children have started reading The Boy Who Grew Dragons by Andy Shepherd. They enjoy reading together in school, independently at home, and then coming back together to share and discuss their thoughts.
Keep an eye out for Darwin’s waggy tail at the end, he was very excited to have visitors reading to him! 🐾✨

🌲❄️ 1G Woodland Learning – Winter Explorers ❄️🌲
This week, 1G enjoyed a magical woodland lesson, spotting the differences between deciduous and evergreen trees. With a light flurry of snow falling, the children explored how trees change through the seasons, noticing bare branches, needles, cones, and winter colours all around them.
Lots of brilliant observations, curiosity, and teamwork – a wonderful way to learn outdoors in winter! 🍃✨

✨ Cosmic Threads – now open ✨
A little follow-up to our earlier post — we’re delighted to share that the Cosmic Threads community quilt is now complete and opens to the public on Saturday 24 January at Jodrell Bank Observatory 🚀
The quilt, which includes two panels created by our Prep 5 & 6 Sewing Club pupils, will be permanently displayed in the Space Pavilion — a lasting celebration of creativity, collaboration and sustainability.
If you’re visiting Jodrell Bank over the coming months, keep an eye out for the stars and circular designs sewn onto recycled LBHS uniform — a small but very special contribution to a national project.
With thanks again to Kelly at Sew Unique Artwork, who leads our Sewing Club and made this opportunity possible 🧵✨

A piece of Lady Barn history, rediscovered and returned.
Our First World War memorial — created to honour former pupils who lost their lives — was believed lost for decades. Last year, it was rediscovered in storage at the University of Manchester, carefully conserved by specialists at Manchester Museum, and has now returned home.
It stands today as a quiet reminder of lives shaped here, and futures cut short — connecting past generations of Lady Barn pupils with the present.
